Witten’s status still up in the Air

Conflicting reports about Jason Witten‘s spleen injury……..

Adam Schefter of ESPN.com reported yesterday that Dallas Cowboys doctors informed tight end Jason Witten he will not need spleen surgery that would have ended his season, according to a source familiar with the situation.

Today we are hearing differently.

Dallas Cowboys.com writer Mickey Spagnola was on the Dallas Cowboys flagship station 105.3 The Fan said he spoke to Witten about his spleen injury.

Witten told Spagnola that he has not seen team doctors as of yet to see if his spleen is healing properly. The Cowboys are hopeful that Witten will able to play in Week 1 against the New York Giants in the NFL’s season opener. But with the game only two weeks away on Sept. 5, his status is still up in the air.
