Is the DeCamillis era coming to an end

In a game where the Dallas Cowboys were flat out-physicaled and out coached in every aspect of the game but one unit stuck out the most to me and that was our special teams unit.

The Dallas Cowboys special teams led by special teams Coach Joe DeCamillis have been horrible to say the least. Since coming to the Dallas Cowboys in 2009 the special team unit for the Cowboys have tanked in big time.

In Sunday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks the Cowboys special teams were a flat-out embarrassment. Let’s break down the Cowboys special team blunders.

Special Team Miscues

  • Felix Jones fumbles opening kickoff leads to Seattle field goal. (Cowboys down 3-0.)
  • Dan Connor misses assignment which allowed Cowboys punter Chris Jones punt blocked and returned for a Seahawk touchdown. (Cowboys down 10-0.)

The last time the Dallas Cowboys had a punt blocked for a touchdown was in last year’s season opener loss to the New York Jets.

If the Cowboys special unit continues to struggle it might be time for the Cowboys to cut their losses with Coach DeCamillis and start with a clean slate.
