The first day of NFL Free Agency was fast and furious as many teams were very active upgrading their rosters. San Diego Chargers signed Cowboys back up tight end John Phillips to a three-year deal.
He was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the sixth round of the 2009 NFL Draft. He played college football at Virginia. Phillips, had 30 career receptions for 218 yards and two touchdowns in his four-year career with the Dallas Cowboys.
Due to the Dallas Cowboys tight salary cap they were unable to keep Phillips.
