Steps in the right direction

AP

Ring of Honor Inductee Drew Pearson praised Jason Garrett and the Cowboys organization for their recent free agent moves.

“I really feel like now they have an identity of what they want to be. The last few years or so, it’s been a grab bag – we need this, so we’re going to pick this player, we need that, so we’re going to take that player. And it wasn’t necessarily the player that fit the identity of what they wanted to be, even if they had an identity.”-Drew Pearson

I also agree with Drew that this off-season free agent moves were a step in the right direction but I also feel that we really need to have a solid draft this year. We have to draft a pass rusher, nose tackle, and add depth to the secondary and linebacker positions.

Bounty Gate

The NFL front office sent shock waves throughout the league today as they delivered one of the stiffest punishment ever handed down in league history.  NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell suspended the New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton without pay for one year and indefinitely banning Gregg Williams the Saints former defensive from the NFL for the “Bounty Gate”scandal.

Snubbed once again?

Once again Charles Haley was believe not worthy to enter the NFL Hall of Fame today. Charles Haley is the only player in NFL history with five Super Bowl rings, three of those he won with the Dallas Cowboys (1992–1996). Haley also has 100.5 career sacks, 5-time pro bowl selection, and a 2-time All-Pro selection. Those look like Hall of Fame numbers to me.

Dallas Cowboys Draft needs.

The NFL draft is right around the corner and we all know that the Dallas Cowboys are in dire need of upgrades in several key positions on the team. Here are a few ideas I think the Cowboys will need to do to improve our team for the upcoming 2012-2013 season.

1. Draft a big physical Safety: George Iloka, 6’3  222 lbs Sr. Boise St.

2. Draft a Ball-Hawking Corner: Dre Kirkpatrick, 6’2 192 lbs Jr. Alabama

3. Defensive End: Jake Bequette, 6’5 264 lbs Sr. Arkansas

4. We need to draft a OLB opposite of DeMarcus Ware: Courtney Upshaw, 6’2 273 lbs Sr. Alabama

5. A Big and Nasty Offensive Lineman: Kevin Zeitler, 6’4 315 Sr. Wisconsin

6. We will need to draft a true 3-4 Nose Tackle: Dontari Poe, 6-5  350 lbs Jr. Memphis

7. Draft a QB of the Future: Kellen Moore, 5’11  3/4  191 lbs Sr. Boise St.

Cowboys Salary Cap

We’ve done an outstanding job. I give Stephen a lot of credit,” Jerry Jones said. “This is a year we thought it would be Armageddon for us – this year. But we were able to do some things with the cap that gives us a chance to have some room to improve this team this year. And we will use it.” There are other moves the Cowboys can do, including triggers that turn the base salaries of Doug Free and Orlando Scandrick into signing bonus lowering their base salaries and saving the team about $8.6 million. When free agency starts the Cowboys could have nearly $20 million in cap space, enough to sign a highly priced free agent such as New Orleans’ guard Carl Nicks and a veteran backup quarterback.-ESPN Dallas

FLASH OCCUPY JONESTOWN!

Pass this on to others. Design and bring brown bags to wear along with your Cowboy jerseys and banners Saturday, February 4th to “elevate” your disgust with the current “product” that continues displayed at “JJ palace”. We will meet in the northern lot at 10 AM for an orderly and quiet demonstration of fans that are quite fed up with the continual demise of a once proud franchise. We been told that if people in numbers (1,000+) show up, the media will be there. And being that it’s the Saturday before the SB, the networks may carry it to give Jerry Jones all the attention we could hope for.
